Shopping in Omotesando

Updated: Sep 25, 2021

Located in Shibuya's Aoyama district is the fashionable and sophisticated Omotesando.

The popular shopping area is often compared to Paris' Champs-Élysées because of its style and ambiance — and it's no surprise given the multitude of famous French fashion brands located along its main street.

Nothing is more pleasant than strolling down the main thoroughfare admiring the latest fashion styles displayed in the windows. Step in any shop and be pampered by the most polite and attentive staff in the world as you experience this realm of high-end luxury.

If the products are too expensive for your wallet, simply enjoy a casual ramble among the crowds of enthusiastic Japanese fashionistas and visitors from all over the world.

Visiting Omotesando is best undertaken when you are not too pushed for time, as one of the great joys is to relax over a coffee and a cake (or a cool ice cream) in one of the many trendy coffee shops.

Omotesando is not only a great shopping destination, but also a memorable and interesting place to explore and spend time while you're in Tokyo.

Be prepared to be wowed by intriguing and impressive examples of architecture as stylish shops compete with futuristic buildings to catch your eye. Interiors and displays are also dressed to impress.

Step off the main street, too, to explore a network of pretty alleys full of boutiques and artisan shops.

No matter your taste, Omotesando is truly a feast of sight, sound and experiences that you won't want to miss.

Getting there

Omotesando is easy to access as it's served by three subway lines: Ginza, Hanzomon and Chiyoda. You can also access the area from Harajuku Station on the JR Yamanote line or simply hop in a taxi — the driver is guaranteed to know the way.
